Ted Hani lives in Queensland, Australia. He was 53 when he was diagnosed in March, 2009. His initial PSA was 6.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7a, and he was staged Unknown. His initial treatment choice was Brachytherapy (Seed Implant) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2016 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

At the time of diagnosis, I felt that my world and life had ended, my first thought was to go home, put my affairs in order as far as my children, the business, personal assets and finances. After that prepare myself psychologically for the end of life as I know it; funny that I thought more of how my end will impact my wife (now ex) and how I can ease the effect of this on my family. through out this time, I was never worried about my end, rather the effect my end will have on the loved ones (wife, kids and grand kids).

My Cancer Specialist at the time favoured surgery and recommended it; if I was to take any action!

I was told, as my cancer was not realy advanced and was not an aggressive type, I could just wait and see, it would be monitored, and if it changed for the worst, I would then be able to decide what action to take!

I knew I had Cancer, I wasnt comfortable with having the desease and not doing anything to remove it, I sought a second opinion, this time from a specialist that advocated Brachytherapy.

I agreed with his opinion, do something about the disease now via Brachytherapy, the hormone treatment was really impacting my life and I became very emotional and would tearup at the slightest feeling of being overwhelmed, considering I coped with working and business pressures of 18 hour days previously, it was noticeable! That was over 5 years ago now, initially, I did have some issues relating to urinal disfunction and other issues, however prescribed medication, remedied all these issues. One thing though, the family breakdown and my ex=wife's lack of understanding and destructive attitude meant that getting back to "normal" actually took three years longer to achieve.

I believe my psychological and mental state as well as my fighting spirit and attitude helped me overcome what this disease threw at me, so far!
