John C lives in Texas, USA. He was 57 when he was diagnosed in January, 2014. His initial PSA was 4.90 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 9, and he was staged T2a. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Retropubic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2015 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

Tumor found by my GP in Nov 2013 with PSA of 4.9. Urologist confirmed tumor in January 2014, biopsied and determined Gleason of 9. Prostate removed February 2014, Gleason confirmed, no sign of cancer in the lymph nodes and no sign of spreading. Two months later, scarring requires another surgery and a larger catheter. After that catheter was removed, I'm self-catheterizing every day for 4 months (4 times for one month, 3 times for the next, etc) to ensure that scarring does not bother me again. Doing Kegels and urinary control is getting better (no more diaper!) after four months as of June, 2014. First post-surgery PSA 3 months after surgery is 4.2. Get another test one week later to ensure that the test was not mistaken and it is 3.7. My urologist is sending me to a oncologist but haven't made the appointment yet (doing some research and asking around for references).

NOTE: John has not updated his story for more than 15 months, so you may not receive any response from him.
