Kark Moates lives in Alberta, Canada. He was 58 when he was diagnosed in April, 2010. His initial PSA was 5.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was Unknown, and he was staged T2a. His initial treatment choice was None and his current treatment choice is Undecided. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2015 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

[Although Kark indicated that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, he has not. A low PSA even with a positive DRE (Digital Rectal Exmination) does not mean that prostate cancer will be diagnosed.]

April 2010, elevated PSA at 5.0, apparent negative DRE with GP.....

October 2012, repeat PSA at 5.1, new GP wanted referral, accepted, specialist finds positive DRE, probably t2a, or t2b, awaiting a biopsy.

UPDATED

December 2012

Had an initial biopsy, healing well, no issues from this. Radiologist saw moderately enlarged prostate, but could not see any masses on the ultrasound, which the urologist said he felt on the rt side of the gland, so clinical grading may be somewhat less than I was given to understand...T2A, OR PERHAPS T2B...awaiting now for 3 weeks for the result...joy of public health care system...reviewing literature so I can have my questions ready if some level of cancer found....appears surgery will be the party line response from the medics, as they cannot confirm the real extent without total removal...the quandry of the grey zone depending on the biopsy picture...thank for the site and forum.

UPDATED

January 2014

New gp reinforced the treatment/test ordered by the first gp - we cannot determine if you have cancer without a biopsy. I said do the PSA; again first. It rose from 5.0 to 5.1 after 1 year. After due consideration, I attended the urologist, he ordered the biopsy, 12 cores. All went well with the proceedure. Results came back no cores positive, some high pin lesions, which he said they feel now are not indicative of pre-cancer. I said I have BPH then....silence...see you in 6 months. At present I have decided to not undergo any further testing. The whole process I found stressful, and discouraging as no sense of me as an active participant in my health, intuition. My urgency, frequency may be slightly an issue. I am taking 2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice daily, which seems to help. If I am to die of prostate cancer, then that is the way I shall go out. Thank you for your site. It was very helpful when I concerned myself with this issue.
