Archie Mac and Judy live in Canada. He was 74 when he was diagnosed in November, 2011. His initial PSA was 8.39 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7a, and he was staged T1c. His initial treatment choice was Brachytherapy (Seed Implant with ADT) and his current treatment choice is Brachytherapy (Other). Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2014 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

Because of age external beam was offered initially. After meeting oncologist/radiologist he felt brachytherapy was a better option given that he felt I was just in the grey area of the Gleason 7. He had me take one hormone shot April 16 to shrink prostate. My PSA at the time of injection was 8.3

One month after shot, May 16, follow up blood work for testosterone and PSA to ensure that they were being reduced. The testosterone is almost at zero but strangely the PSA is now 10. I spoke to clinic and they could not explain. Has this happened to anyone?

My brachytherapy is scheduled for July 10 approx three month after shot. Thanks for any input.

UPDATED

August 2013

One year since brachytherspy. My PSA is .05 which is great. I am sleeping thru the night. Feel normal very happy with results. Recommend brachytherapy for the eligible. Best regards, Archie
