Patrick Palangio and Evelyn live in Canada. He was 69 when he was diagnosed in May, 2006. His initial PSA was 5.20 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6, and he was staged T1c. His initial treatment choice was Non-Invasive (Active Surveillance) and his current treatment choice is Non-Invasive (Active Surveillance). Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2015 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

When I was diagnosed in 2006 one core of six had 20% cancer.

In 2009 PSA was 7.6 so I had another biopsy: one core of ten had 5% cancer and another core had micro focus of cancer. PSA was 7.8, Gleason at 6.

In Oct. 2010 PSA was 9.7 and in January 2011 it was 10. Had another test in April 2011 - no results yet. Will keep you posted.

Feel good, take supplements and vitamins and exercise. Will be 75 this year.
Hope to out live it !!!!!

UPDATED

May 2011

Had another PSA test and had a visit with my urologist. The blood test was 10.8, and the DRE test was OK. The PSA was up a bit. It did not seem to bother the doctor and he said to carry on doing what I'm doing and I will see him in December after another PSA test.

So, off I go for another six months in Nova Scotia!! Hope all is well for the rest of you. enjoy the summer.

Pat.

UPDATED

March 2012

Health is good - regular 6 month check ups with urologist. PSA going up slightly ever year. Eating healthier and exercise regular. Still on AS since 2003.

UPDATED

February 2013

Still on AS - I spend 6 months in Ontario and 6 months in Nova Scotia. Thus I find that the 2 different lab reports differ in values.

In April 2011 my PSA was 10.85 from a lab. in Ontario Canada.
In Sept. 2011 PSA was 10.70 from NS lab.
In Dec. 2011 PSA was 10.15 from lab in Ontario.
In July 2012 PSA was 12.2 from lab in NS.
In Oct. 2012 PSA was 13.8 from lab in NS.
In Feb. 2013 PSA was 16.2 from LAB in Ontario.

Have not seen my Urologist yet. Hope to try another PSA test in 3/4 months to see if still rising.

Do not like the rapid increase!! I'm going to be 78 this summer and hope to not have to treaments at my age, though I'm in good health mentally and physically. Any thoughts from PC team. Thanks, Pat
