Bill V lives in Arizona, USA. He was 67 when he was diagnosed in October, 2016. His initial PSA was 4.70 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6, and he was staged T1c. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2019 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

I am evaluating options for the right treatment for me.

UPDATED

April 2017

I decided to have surgery and opted for Robotic Assisted Prostatectomy with nerve sparing.

My decision was based on life expectancy as my father is well and active at age of 94 and there is longevity on both sides of my family. After deciding on surgery, the experience and skill of surgeon was primary concern and I became confident in Dr. Mitchell Kaye as my doctor and surgeon.

My operation was on 2/13/2017. I also participated in erectile strengthening program offered by Dr. Kaye. The operation has been as successful as could be expected. The Dr indicated that it was not likely that the cancer had escaped the prostate. The catheter was removed after 8 days without issue. I have had a PSA test after 30 days and PSA is undetectable. Continence issues are no more pronounced than pre-surgical conditions and erectile function has fully returned. I will have another PSA test and follow-up Dr. visit in 3 months. I am continuing with the ED program.

UPDATED

May 2018

It is 15 months since my surgery and all is well. My last checkup was at 9 months from surgery and PSA remained undetectable. My surgeon who also provides an ED Program has recommended that I continue with the ED program but I have not done so because my libido and sexual perfromance has been adequate without it. I do wake once per night to relieve my bladder but experience no incontinence otherwise. I remain completely satisfied with the results of my treatment.
