Maurice D and Angela live in New Zealand. He was 46 when he was diagnosed in February, 2014. His initial PSA was 4.50 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was Unknown, and he was staged T2a. His initial treatment choice was Brachytherapy (High Dosage) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2016 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

Thanks for the website!

I was at a normal visit to the doctor.

Suspected broken rib, and a mild rash on the hair scalp and was talking to the doctor about check-ups...

Well after I told the doctor of my family history, the doctor organised a PSA test.

This was positive. A second test was done...Positive ...even higher...

So I no on a journey which result in shock result for me hearing the "C" word Cancer!!!!

Wow I must say I was very shaken, but recovered over the next few days once I did more research and found out that early detection was good and results are excellent for patients if found early enough.

I was given a number of options from the specialist, and we were able to choose Bracytherapy for me, as we had just taken out a medical insurance policy out 2 months earlier (very lucky there) otherwise it was a $26,000 operation.

The op was very simple and no much pain compared to other option that I had been reading about, very sore for a week or so…but fine otherwise.

A great result. As my cancer was small I believe T2.

6 months later my PSA is down to less than 0.5. I guess that radiation really worked on my prostate!

For those who read this and need encouragement, read up about all the options and work out the best option for you and your family.

Regards

Maurice
