Jim Beaudry and Nikki live in California, USA. He was 71 when he was diagnosed in November, 2014. His initial PSA was 100.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was Unknown, and he was staged Unknown. His initial treatment choice was ADT-Androgen Deprivation (Hormone) (Other) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2016 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

I knew I had prostate cancer years earlier, and then I saw the PSA rise from 9 to 39 to 69 to 99 in 2-3 years. I don't have Medicare since I had not worked quite long enough in the US to qualify for Social Security. Then I lost my Canadian Health Care for living in California 10 years. So I went to nearby Tijuana to save money and had a series of rectal sound probes and an MRI, all showing an immense prostate invading my bladder. Funny, I had never had a rectal touch proposed by Mexican doctors. The MRI was also too shy to jump on the cancer bandwagon. So when I recently saw a good American doctor, five minute into the first interview had a finger up there. His facial expression went dead as he released with a low growl: "Hard as a rock..Cancer". I saw him because I was asked to schedule a TED talk on a building system that takes care of reconstruction after natural disasters, something I have been doing all my life. I asked for ONE YEAR before I kick the bucket. He said with bicalutamide (Cassodex) and Lupron injections, I could safely expect 2+ years. The first month was wonderful. I was myself again with no side effects to speak of. Lowering the testosterone level (was never actually measured) seemed to improve my intellectual performance as I was writing with aplomb the 15-minute speech I was to deliver for that TED talk. Then came the 3-month shot that the urologist just 3-weeks ago thought would work as well, with blood & PSA test in August to measure results. It didn't work one bit! . The first week I had everything, headaches, weakness, memory loss, dumbing down into depressive states more and more although the headaches have not recurred. I'm new here but will read all your candid and honest reporting here. Very excited to have found a bunch of guys with similar issues. I have a feeling that the first month was not that effective since I could still make love until the last day, as if that original syringe had misfired!
