Ross B and Sandra live in Queensland, Australia. He was 53 when he was diagnosed in January, 2013. His initial PSA was 4.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7a, and he was staged Unknown. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2016 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

My doctor being a thorough fellow with blood tests had me tested for PSA; from the age of 50, at 52 it was first mentioned to me that the PSA; was slowly rising, a year later I was set up to see a urologist in order to get a truss biopsy. I had that done at a public hospital under general anaesthetic, although sore for a couple of days it was a bearable event and they warned of blood appearing in the urine and semen, the urine was only slightly discoloured but the semen was indeed blood red (a shock to me). A week after biopsy and the results were in, I'm sorry, you have prostate cancer, a PSA; of 4, a Gleason rating of 3+4, after thinking it over I asked if we could watch and wait for a few months and they agreed that would be a good idea, I had another blood test then, and another 3 months along, I then received a call to come back and see them.

The PSA; had doubled to 8, the doctor said the time to watch and wait was over, the gland needed to come out, this news really floored me, it had just been booted home that I was a victim of cancer, I busied myself at work filled my mind with other things but there it was, I had cancer.

Time to play the waiting game, as I did not have health insurance to cover this, I had to go through the public system, it was suggested that at another public hospital,to cut a long story short, it was not till 15th April 2015 that my surgery finally took place, prior to this I had bone scans an MRI and a pet scan, always waiting in between for a new appointment to here or there! Anyway I get pathology results back next week and will update when I know more.surgery went ok and they told me they got it all, all they could see...As I recuperate, the pain is manageable however if I skip a painkiller, I have severe pain deep in my pelvis area, I hope this will not be a further problem, will update on learning my pathology results.

NOTE: Ross has not updated his story for more than 15 months, so you may not receive any response from him.
