Gary W lives in California, USA. He was 49 when he was diagnosed in November, 2014. His initial PSA was 48.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 9, and he was staged T2a. His initial treatment choice was External Beam Radiation (Other) and his current treatment choice is External Beam Radiation+ADT (CyberKnife (SBRT) with ADT). Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2018 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

After a routine physical on October 27th, it was discovered that I had a PSA of 48. The doctor ordered another test the following week and it was 41. My urologist said the lower score was not important and ordered a biopsy.

On November 10th, 2014 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The doctor that I've been seeing through my HMO has advised me to undergo radiation therapy along with brachytherapy and ADT hormone treatment. While I'm very new and quite worried about the entire situation as I read all the accounts of what is happening with the hormone treatment I am not sure that I want to go this route. I will update soon because tomorrow I will go see my radiologist and oncologist for the first time.

UPDATED

January 2016

Greetings people, greetings and salutations. My Cancer journey began in November of 2014. When I was diagnosed. I was terrified, angry, confused! I did not know who to turn to. Therefore, I searched the internet for a cure, "Big Mistake!!". There are people out there waiting for newly diagnosed people to panic and buy their snake oil.

I bought the snake oil and it didn't work. Seriously, I did, and about $20,000 later and my PSA going from 22 to 38 I decided to follow conventional methods. What I didn't mention in the previous sentence was all the different types of cures and supplements I tried while my PSA almost doubled. If it was out there and claimed to cure or help with cancer I'm sure I tried it.

In June of 2015 I began my External Beam Radiation treatments. The staff and hospital were professional and I completed radiation treatment in September.

UPDATED

February 2017

I've just completed 2 years of Hormone Therapy (Lupron). Upon completion, I was informed I would have to have 3 more years of hormone therapy.

In the beginning this would of rocked my world, however over the past two years I have had numerous close friends die from cancer. It was only then that I realized hormone therapy is not that bad. As a matter of fact hot flashes improve the winter experience. I rarely use my home heater.

Live life with passion.
