Avy Vizel and Yafa live in Israel. He was 52 when he was diagnosed in March, 2005. His initial PSA was 6.50 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7a, and he was staged T2b. His initial treatment choice was External Beam Radiation+ADT (Other) and his current treatment choice is External Beam Radiation+ADT (Other). Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2016 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

A friend of mine underwent prostatectomy for prostate cancer and asked me if I had my PSA checked. At that time I didn't even know about this blood test. So when my next physical came I asked my doc to add PSA to the list and it came back 6.5. My doc sent me to the urologist who sent me to the hospital for a biopsy as he felt some hardening in the right apex. 11 out of 13 needles came back positive with 65% of material with cancer. I didn't like the idea of prostatectomy as my friend did, because he suffered a lot of pain and discomfort after the surgery, so I chose 41 ebrt radiation treatments with hormones (zoladex) for three month (I also checked for brachy but my radiation oncologist told me my tumor was too big for that treatment).

Today I am on my ninth year into the journey my PSA; is fluctuating between 0.2 and 0.3 and my sex life is something like 80% of what it was before. No other problems-bone scan o.k. and I hope things will remain under control.

I wish all of you the best - and would be happy to hear from you about your experience with this beast.

UPDATED

November 2014

Hello all - I just had a bone scan and it showed some activity in my sacrum and right leg but the doc was unsure whether it was mets or from natural aging of the bone any experience from anybody about this will be greatly appreciated.

Next time I will update my PSA; reading. wish you all the best. Avy
