Daniel C lives in England. He was 61 when he was diagnosed in February, 2014. His initial PSA was 368.80 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was Unknown, and he was staged T4. His initial treatment choice was ADT-Androgen Deprivation (Hormone) (Monotherapy) and his current treatment choice is ADT-Androgen Deprivation (Hormone) (Monotherapy). Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2016 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

This is actually a story I would like to share about my father. My father is of an oriental background and initially diagnosed in Feb 2014 with an elevated PSA due to a blood test at the age of 61. General well being fit.

I am personally from a medical background (not doctor/physician) and have many friends who are in this profession. Upon obtaining the results that my father has metastatic prostate cancer; it did tear my life apart. My father showed no symptoms of any cancer and occassionally complained of aches and pains in the back. Rather than using the NHS (National health service) to obtain the precise diagnosis as he was on a 2 week wait on the NHS; I rushed him to Harley Street (which is renowned for private medical care in the UK, London).

He had MRI scans done, Bone Scans done. Approx. cost £3,000 for all scans. His initial diagnosis is T4N1M1. This basically means that the cancer has spread out from the prostate and into the lymph node, part of the skull, rib cage and spinal cord. Yet he is still standing and laughing like a normal man. Both the separate urologist both confirmed that surgery was not an operation to remove the cancer.

Straight after the week of testing at Harley Street his appointment for the NHS initial diagnosis consultation was due. Instead of being sent around for testing under the NHS, I was able to provide all the scans and all the test results for the consultants at the NHS. His treatment was able to start straightaway without waiting around.

Due to some metas in his spinal cord between T10 and T11, he was given a back brace to wear for support which he still does now.

I know to some people Cancer can be frightening. But in the last few months I have learnt a lot. One of the most important thing that I've learnt is that time is important. So always cherish the ones you love and always be there to support them. Its the love and support of positive energy that will help the ones you love. They are equally as scared as you are. Show your suppor to them.

It is now 3 months after his initial diagnosis (Feb 2014 --> May 2014). In the last 3 months, my father has made some drastic changes to his lifestyle and diet, monthly Zoladex injection every 4 weeks (not every month). His PSA level is now 0.5 from 368.8.

What I'm trying to share with everyone is that his PSA is very low after a very short period of time. It is promising for my father.

His diet and lifestyle changes were quite drastic. Previously, he was a carnivore and ate lots of meat, and processed foods. Limited sugar foods as he didn't have a sweet tooth. His changes are as follows:

1. Juice every day. He consumed approx. 2 litres of fresh green juice everyday. The green juice contains: kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, apple, carrots, tumeric, wheat grass juice (x3 shots), sprirulina, chlorella. Portions are all approx. and adjusted to taste. Non essential ingredients are apple and carrots which are only used as flavourings for the juice.

2. Sauna and steam room. He goes to the steam and sauna room (local gym) 3-4 times a week to relax and basically cooks himself. 20 mins in a sauna/steam room, followed by 5-10 minutes in the plunge pool. Then repeat. approx. 2-3 hours every day.

3. Removal of stress. He retired and now no longers for anyone or himself anymore.

4. Positive energy. As a family, we surround him with positive energies so hopefully he has things to focus on. He has lots of friends who come round and see him to encourage him to fight his condition.

5. Vegetarian. He is no longer allowed to consume meat. The rationale behind this is due to the acidic conditions it puts the body under. His breakfast is normally a raw alkaline diet followed by 1 litre of fresh juice. Lunch is something warm usually vegetarian foods which he cooks. Snacks on pomegranate, kiwis, pineapple, almonds. Dinner is normally hot food containing tofu, vegetables and egg. He eats white fish only and he only consumes this every other day.

6. Reverse Osmotic Water filtration. This was installed in all our family homes. Basically water from the tap is so dirty that majority of people don't realise this. After a bit of research we purchased and installed a RO water filtration system, which removes 99% of everything from the drinking/cooking water.

I do not know if what I have guided my father is right or wrong. I'm sure there will be people out there who says I'm a fool for putting this pressure onto my father and it is irresponsible. His current method of treatment going forward is now 12 weekly injections of Zoladex. Monitoring of his PSA level. And continue with his juicing and lifestyle changes.

If you saw my father, I guarantee you, you would say "Wow! You look really good!". I cannot tell if my father is recovering internally from the cancer. But I do know for sure he has accepted his condition and his diagnosis. He accepts his diet and lifestyle changes. He is happier and less stressed in life now. He looks and feels good every day. He has far more energy than I do (i'm 34 years old).

I will keep on updating his story for others to read.

UPDATED

August 2014

This is an update of my fathers condition.

Brief summary. Initial diagnosis was Stage 4 with a PSA level of 368 in Jan 2014. After 3 months of treatment his PSA was down to 0.5. His treatment was radiotherapy targetting his spinal cord, as there is a compromise in the spine and initially monthly injection of Zoladex. He's doing the natural diet of juicing vegetables (celery, cucumber, spinach, kale, green apples, carrots, ginger, tumeric, spirulina, chlorella and wheatgrass juice). Steams/saunas 2-3 times a week (each time circa 3 hours).

3 months later. May 2014. His PSA was down to 0.5.

Its now August 2014. Next lot of results now due from his PSA.

PSA level now 0.3!

Will keep you all posted on anything else that is happening in my fathers life!

UPDATED

October 2014

Currently my father is on holiday for 5 weeks in Asia! I have directed him to my friends in Asia where they will carry out the PSA testing whilst he is out there to see if there has been any changes!

Obviously, being away from home. He is out of his normal routine compared to being at home. But saying so, he has kept his juicing going by purchasing a juicer locally and sourcing locally green vegetables to juice. But unfortunately, no saunas and steam room for him for the time being.

Will keep you all posted of any progress of his testing whilst he is away in Asia!

UPDATED

December 2014

It's fast approaching Xmas, so I thought I would share the update about my father and his treatment.

My father had a PSA testing done in Asia whilst he was on holiday and it was 1.0 and he had another blood test after his 5 week holiday in Asia and that came back at 1.2. Overall this is slightly higher than his previous PSA level testing at 3 month and 6 month post diagnosis.

Consulting his consultant at the hospital she is not too worried. However as a son, you always will be for the welfare of your parents.

So back to the UK; my father is now back on the juicing regime and back to the sauna treatment. I found out recently that for some cancer treatments there is hyperthermia treatment; which basically translate to heating the cancer cells. I don't actually know what the ins and outs are of this treatment but I guess its possibly(?) one the of the reasons why sauna's and steam rooms seem to be a good option for many cancer sufferers.

Also been reading quite a lot about Cannabis oil and the treatment of prostate cancer (Dennis Hill). Seems like an interesting approach and the side effects are initial drowsiness, which can't be a bad thing. But also cannabis oil seems to be the miracle cure for all types of cancer. Just go onto YouTube and search for those terms and cancer and I have been amazed by those people and those stories. Just wished I can obtain this for my father.

My father looks good and feels good. Still going about his daily business.

He did however had a small health scare. His bowel cancer screening come back with an anomaly! So he went for a colonscopy last week to check on the anomaly and discovered he had a 3mm mono polyp. This according to the Doctor this was really good for a 62 year old man. Nonetheless, it was a scare. The polyp was removed immediately and dad was out the same day from the operation.

Will keep posted of his journey as I get the time to do so.
