Paul R and Sue live in Florida, USA. He was 67 when he was diagnosed in January, 2013. His initial PSA was 70.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 9, and he was staged T4. His initial treatment choice was ADT-Androgen Deprivation (Hormone) (Other) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2015 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

I am writing this on behalf of my husband - we are currently dealing with and going through his cancer. We are struggling with this and I tend to be the one who reaches out to try to find avenues of support. He has always been on top of getting the appropriate testing done for his health but, while he was going through some health issues 3 years ago; surgeries for suspected lung cancer (negative) and colon surgery; we missed that his PSA wasn't tested. In December of 2012 when routine blood work was ordered, HE noticed that there were no results for his PSA and raised the question to our primary care Doctor. The Dr. ordered a PSA which came back at 48 - the Dr. felt it was probably an anomaly and ordered a repeat - that came back at 70.4. We then met with an urologist - long story short - gleason score of 9, spread to lymph nodes and now an area in the hip bone. They have told us he is not eligible for surgery or radiation so he is going through the hormonal treatments. At this point his PSA has reduced to 1.3. He is fatigued and short of breath but functioning. We now are in the waiting mode for when the PSA no longer responds to the hormones. I have been told that typically this treatment works for about 2 years - anybody with experience for this? And we've been told that the next step is the Provenge type treatment = anyone with experience with that? Thanks - Paul's wife, Sue
