John H and Jeannie live in Georgia, USA. He was 65 when he was diagnosed in November, 2013. His initial PSA was 8.50 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7b, and he was staged T2b. His initial treatment choice was External Beam Radiation+ADT (ProstRcision with ADT) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2017 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

Hello I am 65 and was told I had prostate cancer 11/27/13--- PSA 8.5---4+3=7 Gleason---T2b---sonagram (prostate 55grms.)----Bone scan (metastatic disease is not excluded but thought to be of low liklihood) In 2009 my PSA was 2.4 in 2010 it was 2.2. In 2009 if you told me my PSA was 100 I would have probably said that's good isn't it? Well in 2011 and 2012 my doctor did not order the PSA along with my yearly bloodwork and when I went in for 2013 bloodwork he said he did not show a PSA for those two years and ordered one with this bloodwork. The next morning his nurse called and said everything came back great except my PSA was 7.6 and prescribed a antibiotic and a retest for 3 weeks later. After I went by the lab and gave blood on 10/30 she called and said it was 8.5 and recomended for me to see a urologist, I did the next week when he did a DRE and found a tumor on my prostate and I think everyone knows the drill from there. Of coarse I knew about DRE from other phisical exams I had 40 years ago but my doctor did not mention it and I was't going to offer, I'm a plumber not a doctor. So is hindsight 20-20, probably not because without the "cancer" word I would not have taken the time to become a prostate educated aging male. I meet with the urologist on the 31st and he is pushing me toward the robotic prostatectomy. I have already changed to a prostate healthy diet with the first high PSA. Any advise or info would be welcome. I have a appointment for a second opinon on Jan. 7 with Radiotherpy Clinics of Georgia. I live in Marietta Ga. so it's close to me. Any feedback on their ProstResion treatment would welcome.

Thanks and happy new year to all

John

UPDATED

September 2015

I did the ProstRicision seeds and 35 radation treatments. My first PSA; check at three months went from 8 to 4, at 6 months from a 4 t0 2.6 at 1year 2.6 to 2.3. at a year and a half it was 11. New ct scan indicated lymth node metastases stage 4. I started hormone therapy [firmigon] and after a month it droped to 0.7. I took my second shot today Sept. 3 2015. I will keep you updated. I would like to hear some outcomes for hormone therapy.
