Herb Schultz and Dawn live in New York, USA. He was 46 when he was diagnosed in April, 2013. His initial PSA was 7.80 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 6, and he was staged T1c. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2015 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

My story starts off early this year when I went to doctors to get blood work done during routine check up. Three days later I got a phone call from doc saying they would like me to come in to office to talk to me about an elevated PSA;. Of course I went into panic mode because prostate cancer is in my family history my father had it and decided to do radiation. So far 7 years later he is still doing good.

Anyway my doctor recommended I see a urologist so I set up an appointment and my journey begins. After seeing urologist and having a DRE done doctor determined that my prostate felt normal I have had no symptoms what so ever and always have been healthy. He felt I needed to get biopsy done because of my family history. Got the biopsy done in May 2013 - 6 cores came back positive with a Gleason 6 T1c slow growing cancer actually the most common diagnosed Prostate cancer there is.

Well to tell you the truth I had a very rough time with this whole matter they hand you a booklet and tell you to go home and read over your options because you should really do something about it. Well after months of trying what to decide I chose robotic surgery. Had it done Sept 11 2013 today is Sept 25 2013 two weeks after surgery and I can tell you I have never been so happy in my life my surgery so far has been a success I am peeing. Normal and I have some sexual ability. Now I just have to pray all the cancer has been removed. I can continue on and on with my story.

My purpose for entering my story is because I used this Web sigte to contact a few men that have had same situation as me and this site is awesome the people that have spent there time and stories are very genuine and contacted me instantly when I asked them to and shared their stories in full detail which helped me to decide what I needed to do. I would like to pass on the same genuine care that all these same individuals did for me so if anyone out there has same diagnosed cancer as me feel free to contact me at (716) 880-5126 or email me.

I apologize if my story is a bit jumped around but I find it so much easier to talk to people so feel free to contact me. I will try to keep an update on my prognosis as time goes on. Again some situations are worse than other but you need to keep a positive attitude and have faith in God family and friends that's what got me threw and has made me much stronger and have meet some great friends from this site.
