Roger Welham and Barbara live in England. He was 68 when he was diagnosed in November, 2011. His initial PSA was 15.70 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7, and he was staged T3a. His initial treatment choice was ADT-Androgen Deprivation (Hormone) (Other) and his current treatment choice is None. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2014 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

During October 2011 I went to my Doctor with chest pains, after an examination I was refered to hospital cardiolgy and asked to get blood tests, (I have suffered from PMR for about 10 years and in the treatment from this I take a drug called Methotrexate and am therefore required to have a full blood test every 4 weeks to make sure my liver is OK. About 4 years ago I started to suffer from polysythemia (Thick Blood) this resulted in further blood tests to check on Crit levels if this was over 4.5 at least 1 pint of blood was taken (vinisection) and disposed off (procedure carried out in the cancer unit). About two years ago the pain in my back (from an old injury) increased and I was proscribed Morphine) . So I was quite happy to have the tests thinking that they had been done numerous times before and I had no problems. Wrong 3 days after the blood test I was urgently called in to see my doctor examined and recomended for a biopsy. This was done two weeks later and was very painful, with lots of sorrys and vanishing nurses. This came back positive and hormone treatment started immediatly. Scans were requested. Both completed in two weeks. About one week later I was told by phone I needed another scan as cancer may have spead to the hip. Another week and I had a CAT scan. About 10 days later I was seen by the specialist to be told that they think the cancer has spread to the hip something could be seen on the bone scan but was not apparent on the CAT scan ( this could still be an old injury site). However, during the consultation I was told surgery was not an option and that normaly they did not do any further treatment but that I would be seen by the cancer expert in Norwich with a view to having Radio Therapy. I see him on Wednesday 23rd January. During the consultation the Prostate Cancer Nurse explained that my cancer was a particularly aggressive tumor/cancer and was now incurable. That was a good day not...What I cannot understand is I don't appear to have any symptoms like pain, urinating problems although sex is not a option just now.
