Peter S and Elizabeth live in Connecticut, USA. He was 52 when he was diagnosed in May, 2010. His initial PSA was 27.00 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 9, and he was staged Unknown. His initial treatment choice was Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy) and his current treatment choice is External Beam Radiation+ADT. Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2015 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

I was treating with a urologist for kidney cancer. Prior to my prostate surgery my PSA levels had been going up for a couple of years, but the biopsies always came back negative. I then had an MRI which found the cancer. In June of 2010 I had a prostatectomy at Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Center. Initially after the surgery my PSA level was undetectable. In July of 2012 my PSA level went to .33, ie a detectable number so my surgeon sent me to a radiation oncologist. The radiologist is now set to perform 6 months of hormone treatment along with 8 weeks (39 times) of radiation therapy. I am schedued for an MRI of my pelvis prior to beginning treatment. I was 52 years old when I had the prostatectomy. I am now 54 years old.

UPDATED

August 2012

Went for an MRI and CT Scan this week. MRI was negative, but CT Scan showed 3 small nodules on lung, doctor said they were nothing to worry about, Doctor will watch them and schedule another CT Scan for 6 months. Got my first shot of Lupron this morning, next shot scheduled for one month. Radiation to start in October.

UPDATED

September 2012

Went for 2nd Lupron shot today. No real side effects from the 1st shot, I had a couple of mild hot flashes. Doctor says that if anything side effects will worsen during this the 2nd month. Not really worried. Radiation to start mid to late October.

UPDATED

December 2013

Went for my check up one year post radiation. All went well my PSA was undetectable. Doctor was pleased said things look good. Go back in April 2014 for further blood work.
