Jock O and D live in England. He was 54 when he was diagnosed in April, 2012. His initial PSA was 6.50 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7a, and he was staged Unknown. His initial treatment choice was HIFU (Focal HIFU) and his current treatment choice is Surgery (Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy). Here is his story.

THERE WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE REMINDER IN 2015 SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.

Shocked and bewildered. I am hoping to start a new relationship.

UPDATED

July 2012

Hi since my original situation I have been found after have CT and bone scans to only have localise advanced disease. I was particulary concerned about the side effects of treatment.

I have due to my situation going to be treated with Focal HIFU in Prof Emberton trials at Universty College London. I am hopeful that the side effects will be minimal. Also attractive is that I may recover from the operation and be back to work after one week.

UPDATED

November 2013

Since I last updated my situation a lot has happened.

In Feburalry 2013 I had a Picture Bipasy under the HIFU trials. It together with the mapping is supposed to give the most detailed picture of what is going on in the prestate. In April 2013 the results showed that the tumour was on both sides of the prostate with areas of 3+3 and 3+4 on the Gleason Score. I was informed that because it was billateral, I would not be suitable for the HIFU Trials. After discussing with Prof Emberton himself I booked an appointment with the Uroogical Surgeons at Universiy College Hospital London.

They repeated the CT Scan and stated that I would benfit from an surgical procedure as the tumours were confined to the prostate although in one area it was very close to the surface. After deliberating I decided to go for the Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy. This was performed in late July 2013.

Although I developed UTI and the cayterter had to stay in for an extra week and be readmitted I recovered. My urinary incontinence is subsiding significalntly and there is some erectile function it is not as much as I would have desired at present.

I was told that the histology of the prostate after the operation showed that the tmours were gland confined.

I have had a 6 weeks post op PSA and the good news os that the results have come back as 0.

I have start an intensve course of Phospodiesterase inhibitors.
