WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DID

(AND HOW TO MAKE A DONATION)

WHO WE ARE

This web site was developed by a group of Prostate Cancer Survivors from all over the world, who met in cyberspace. The site was designed by Kerry, the Australian wife of Gregg Morrison. The content comes from the combined experience the men and women throughout the world who generously contributed time and knowledge to the site which was then assembled by survivors Terry Herbert (who was in South Africa then, now in Australia) and Gregg Morrison (Australia). Terry Herbert now owns and runs the site, Gregg and Kerry having 'retired'.

Kerry and Gregg Morrison, 2001
Sydney, Australia

Gregg and his wife, Kerry were part of the trio who started the site. Kerry did the orginal design work, Gregg hunted down Links to suitable information, Terry wrote the words. Gregg was diagnosed in 1991 and chose surgery. There were no other options open to him at that time. He regrets not having had the choice. Sadly Gregg passed on in December 2011 from a general collapse of his health.

Anthea and Terry Herbert
Melbourne, Australia

Terry, pictured here with his wife Anthea, owns and manages this site. He was diagnosed in 1996 and chose what was then known as Conservative Management, sometimes called Watchful Waiting, now called Active Surveillance, rather than any other treatment option. He continues to enjoy good health but is now using Androgen Deprivation Therapy to manage his disease.

George Hardy
Tyne & Wear , England

George was diagnosed in 2005 with a high PSA and late stage disease. He chose Hormone Therapy (Androgen Deprivation Therapy) plus Radiation (External Beam Radiation Therapy) and believes in diet as a key factor for his continued good health. He was agreat help processing data for the site and especially in chasing men for the updates to their stories, which are such an important part of this site, before the YANA-3 Project.

Mark Freedkin
California, USA

As the number of men sharing their stories on the site kept growing, I knew there had to be a better way of handling the task of uploading and updating these, but didn't know how to do it. I put out a call for help and a number of men answered. These are the men, and I am very grateful to them all: Tom Dillon, Eric Taylor, Eric Gamel, Paul Proue, Ron Cassell, Chris Ivy, John Vig, David Collins, Mark Freedkin, Jon Nowlin, Gary Peterson, Tim Castleman, Scotty Allen, David Bashover, Don Oberlin, Ray Glass, Dino Brown, Greg Nackers, Scott Orwig, Steve Schmidt.

Mark Freedkin took charge of the project and I cannot speak too highly of his efforts and the countless hours he put in to achieve the objectives. In this he was assisted primarily by Gary Peterson who also put in many hours and had some excellent ideas. Other men helped as and when they were asked to do so. The outcome of the project will make a big difference to the men who follow us in finding information that is helpful to them. All visitors to the site should be thankful for their efforts.

This site is for all the men, their partners, sons and daughters, and all those who care.

DONATIONS

The site is absolutely independent and I have not sought, nor will I, any endorsement or funding from any organisation. In that way I can maintain my integrity and freedom. Although I seek no fees or payment for what is provided on the site, I do have ongoing costs.

If you have found this site useful and wish to contribute to these costs, donations of any amounts may be made quite safely by clicking on the logo below.  YANA is not a registered charity, so in most tax regimes any payment made will not be tax deductible.

If you do not have a PayPal account or are reluctant to use this facility, you can donate by Visa Card, Mastercard or Discover card by clicking on the PayPal link below. You will see in the bottom right the option to use a card instead of PayPal. This does not create a PayPal account in your name - it is simply a way of transferring the funds to my PayPal account.

If you take this option, there are some aspects that have caused some problems previously:

Do not click on anything on the right hand side of the page until you have completed the first two steps below in the left hand panel. If you try any of the links on the right side of the page you will not be able to enter your PayPal account password or details of your credit card.

Enter Donation where the screens asks you to Enter Description, then enter the amount you wish to donate in the box labelled Item Price.

After you enter your donation amount, click the link labelled Update. Missing this step will cause frustration!

Using a credit card, not a PayPal account, ensure that you select your country of residence in the drop down menu on the following page - the default menu is Australia, but it is possible to donate from any country. If you do not select your country you will not be able to enter the correct data.

Please e-mail me at yananow@optusnet.com.au if you do make such a donation so that I can acknowledge receipt of it with my very sincere gratitude.
