THERE
WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE
REMINDER
IN 2011
SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.
I
was initially diagnosed on November 3rd, 2009. I did a lot of research and visited
this site and ultimately decided on travelling from Oklahoma City, OK to a specialist
in Austin Texas for a Laparoscopic surgery to remove the prostate on Jan 13th,
2010.
I awoke to be amazed that the surgery was not successful. Apparently
there were a few complications. My pelvis was too narrow for the doctor to be
able to get to my prostate and my abdomen would not fill with enough gasses for
them to be able to work well.
I am now researching other options which
appear to be narrowed down to Proton Therapy and Tomotherapy. Brachytherapy could
still be a viable option also but the doctor needs to do an ultrasound to determine
if the narrow pelvis might effect his procedure too.
At 43 years old,
I am the second youngest person ever diagnosed by my current urologist here in
Oklahoma City. I thanks God for my girlfriend Susan and my family! They are all
Angels!!! This whole process has been tough and I'm still healing from the unsuccessful
surgery but things are getting better. I have another appointment in two weeks
and my oncologist is supposed to be able to tell me if my insurance will cover
proton therapy as a treatment option.
More to come.
