Robert
Thistlewhite and Shelby live in Nevada, USA. He was 60 when he was diagnosed on
August 27, 2004. His initial PSA was 333.0 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 8 or 9
and he was staged T4. His choice of treatment was ADT (Androgen Deprivation Therapy).
Here is his story.
THERE
WAS NO RESPONSE TO AN UPDATE
REMINDER
IN 2010
SO THERE IS NO UPDATE.
Upon
receiving the PSA Count of 333 I was also informed of a compression Fracture of
the Spine at T11 with Tumor involvement. I was told I had Metastatic Prostate
Cancer and within two and a half weeks was undergoing Spinal Surgery to remove
the Tumor, T11 vertebrae and two ribs.
I have been on Lupron for the
past three plus years, Zometa for the past two years and was on Casodex for approximately
one and a half years. My PSA dropped to a low of 7 and then went to 10 where it
stayed until October of last year when it jumped to 14. They stopped the Casodex
and after a Cat Scan and Bone Scan I went through three weeks of Radiation to
relieve the pain generating down my left leg from a tumor on the pelvis.
I am now going to be starting a regimen of Ketoconozole and Hydrocortisone
along with the Lupron and Zometa as the PSA in continuing to rise. It was at 25.8
on December 10th. I will be having another PSA taken in a week just prior to starting
the Ketoconozole to get a base line reading.
I feel good and am still
working and am active with volunteering and with my Children and Grandchildren.
I look forward to conversing with others. I have always tried to find the humor
in most everything. There are also very few people who know me who don't know
what I have and what I am going through. I have always felt that the more people
who know the larger your support group is.
Thank you for letting me impart
my story on your website.
