BRONZE

Ricky B and Luann live in Florida, USA . He was 46 when he was diagnosed on October 28, 2009. His initial PSA was 4.1 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7 and although he does not state his staging it seems likely he was staged T1c. He is undecided as to his choice of treatment. Here is his story.

My name is Luann my husband has recently been diagnosed. I have had great comfort in reading everyone's story here. My husband is allowing me to tell our story.

We go on Friday November 27, 2009 for our third doctor visit hopefully we will have some result's of bone scan, Ct scan and a second opinion on the biopsy that was done on October 28, 2009.

All we know now is Gleason 7....that's all.

Please pray for us.

Scheduled to have seeds implanted on January 21 2010

As of right now seem's like I have to see a SPECIALIST - Urologist, Oncologist and my medical doctor every other day. Thank God for insurance but the co-pay's are breaking the piggy bank !!

I am having Panic/Anxiety attacks with insomnia I have to go Monday January 11, 2010 to see a Psychiatric doctor to treat my mental side. I had finally found a job six weeks ago after 3 years unemployed. After missing day's of work , I am close to losing it.

Please pray for me ,

Thanks

Rick.

Luann reporting here for my better half.

Rick had "seed's" implanted on Thursday January 21 2010- 10 days ago. I can't believe it has been ten days already. I took him to the outpatient facility at 11:00 am, he was prepared for the procedure. He was out and on his way home at 3:00 pm.

I am so thankful to the Lord to report, not one problem. Not even pain, he had a little sore throat for one day but that is it. Minor swelling of his peri-anal area but no ICE for him, haha.

The only concern is whether or not we should be sleeping in the same bed, he is putting a pillow between us. I don't think that will stop the radiation but it make's him feel better, but I miss being close. We got different answers no matter which doctor or nurse we ask. He said he is scared he is gonna give me cancer. [Cancer cannot be transmitted by sexual intercourse. There are no risks in sleeping together after brachytherapy, although it is recommend that a condom be used until the gland has healed completely in case a seed migrates from the gland.]

Next doctor appointment is this Thursday February 4, 2010, suppose they are going to do test to make sure the seed's are in place. I will post again after that.

By the way the only medicine they gave him was Flomax, and a stool softener and of course right after surgery the doctor gave him Vicodin for pain and an antibiotic Leviquin to take for seven days.

No problem's at all PRAISE Jesus, no blood, no pain, nothing no incontinence etc. I have to tell you since you all are wondering like he was. The next day January 22, 2010 he woke up with an erection he was so happy ...HAHA he said I still got it, of course he didn't do any thing with it, YET. Don't mean to be graphic but these are thing's we wondered about as a married couple of 19+ year's.

Thanks. Talk to you soon.
