Bobby Winn lives in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA. He was 43 when he was diagnosed on September 5, 2009. His initial PSA was 2.5 ng/ml, his Gleason Score was 7 and he was staged T1c. His choice of treatment was Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery. Here is his story.

I had a work physical which indicated a rise in my PSA over the previous year. My Primary Care doctors treated me with antibiotics to see if I had an infection. My PSA dropped from 3.4 to 2.5, however, it was at 1.6 the previous year. When that didn't help I was sent to a Urologist for a biopsy.

August 31, 2009 I had my biopsy which was less than pleasant. Less than a week later I was informed that I had prostate cancer. The concern was that some of the cells were described as aggressive.

September 6, 2009 I met with the urologist to discuss my options, I had already decided on the surgery, unless he had a reason to talk me out of it. With my age he felt this was the best procedure for me. Given that I have a wife, and two children under 11, my main concern was being around for them.

December 10, 2009 I had Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery. The surgery went well with moderate pain for the first twenty four hours. I was released the following afternoon after being able to walk.

I had the catheter removed seven days later, I have leaked a lot, going through 4-5 pads a day. I am holding out hope that the Kegel exercises will speed my recovery.
